I think I have somewhere on my youtube some other TP tunes, but one of my favorites is Time to Move On. I tried that 4 years ago imperfectly.

Thanks Sal, I'll take all the encouragement I can get with my vocals.

I love Petty too, have since his first album. Can't say he's my favorite artist, but he's right there among my favorite artists.

I love your version of Time to Move On. I used to play that one a TON, as much to work on that pesky Bm chord as anything, but I got better at the Bm and forgot to keep playing it. Your's is a great version. I'll have to go back to that one...

Hi Sage,

Your rendition of "I'm Free", and especially your harmony parts are really well done, superb in fact. I really enjoyed listening to your recording.

It's hard for me to think of this song as a Tom Petty song when this version is so infused with John Mayer's style. I had forgotten that I, too, had done a version of "I'm Free" in the past. To add to the thread here, I'll list it below.

Some great playing in this thread! Nice job, everyone!
Here is one of my favorites, "Into The Great Wide Open."

As I sift through these sing threads… I come back to bump this up. Petty is perhaps my favorite artist. I listen to his satellite channel all the time. Over the next week I’ll try to come up with something new for here, and maybe something obscure…

Please brethren… I need me some more TP

The intent of these threads is for folks at all levels of playing contribute their best efforts. So, please, all you Petty fans, dive in!

I'll start it off with two recordings, a really mellow lesser known Petty tune, "Square One", and a flat out rocker that he wrote and played live a lot but gave to Stevie Nicks to record, "Stop Draggin My Heart Around". Both have acoustic rhythms, the first has an acoustic lead as well, but the second one is all electric beyond the first rhythm track. I'll apologize in advance for the vocals -I enjoy singing, but it's a lifelong weakness of mine.

I'm gonna try to jump-start this thread. This is a Mudcrutch song, which was Petty's band before he was Petty, and then was revived a couple of times later in his career. I think this may have been from a 2008 or so album. Still kind of his prime - he was so good for so long...
