The pickups are less muddy than the originals. Evenness is pretty good, but I'm still keeping an eye on it. I have the shims in case I decide to use them.

I've had the 'Inspired By' John Lennon Casino for 7 years.
Love it and it's my main instrument when playing electric. I briefly played the standard Casino when looking for a new guitar. Around the time I was looking at the Casino, I had the chance to be John in a Beatles tribute band and it made sense to go for that particular guitar. It was new but I got it heavily discounted in a sale. It's a versatile guitar and obviously popular for that very reason...

Yes! Good call on the Casino!
While I am admittedly a big Beatles fan, what sold me on the Casino was seeing it in the hands of other players like The Edge (U2), Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Skyler Skjelset (Fleet Foxes), Daniel Kessler (Interpol), and others who don't necessarily fall into that 60s British rock sound the guitar is probably most identified with. It's a deceptively versatile guitar, and with the fully-hollow construction and the short-scale neck that is set further up the fretboard than a 335, it's a joy to play and hold — almost like a 12-fret acoustic guitar. The Casino is — in my opinion — the definitive P90 guitar and worthy of addition to anyone's lineup, whether it's one's only electric guitar or as a complement to other Fender and Gibson classics. (I think a good Telecaster is the perfect companion to a Casino) Enjoy! Oh, and since no one ever said a thread had too many guitar photos, here's mine — a photo taken over a decade ago when it was brand new, posing on our super-cheap IKEA sofa — the "inspired by" Lennon reissue model in sunburst:
