Default More ragtime - Make Believe Stunt (Maple Leaf Rag) on a Martin 000-28VS

Hi guys,

Here's my latest recording. Rev. Gary Davis' Make Believe Stunt on a Martin 000-28VS. It's Davis' take on Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag. From an arrangement by Woody Mann but it has kind of morphed over the years so don't blame him!

I hope you enjoy it.

For comparison, here's a recording I did of Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag. From an arrangement by Pat Donohue.

You did a good job on a very tough song, Doug!

Well done!

I like the sound of your Martin 000-28VS. I have one of those myself.

Great effort, that ragtime stuff is a real challenge and you played both pieces well.

I thought some might like to see the guitar in the recording. 2008 Martin 000-28VS bought new. New bone nut and full EVO refret by Weston Instruments a few years back plus a celluloid pickguard handmade by Mark Stutman at Folkway Music forever ago. It could use a bit of a setup but it plays beautifully right now with a really explosive tone. The sound just jumps out of it.

Hi Doug...beautiful guitar and a beautiful job on this tune. Really good playing....this may be your best recorded effort I've heard. Wow!
