Default Does John Alderson's Delta CF resonator shop still exist?

The website for Delta CF resonator guitars is pretty obsolete. Is John Alderson still building his CF resonator guitars? I'd be extremely interested in tracking one down.

I wish Emerald would make resonators. They made at least one custom instrument some years ago and it turned out great. It came up for sale not long ago on AGF.

Kray, I was unaware of that brand and I’ve been around the CF game for some time now.

We have an Ovation prototype resonator with koa veneer and palm tree sound hole. It was intended for the Hawaiian market where Ovation is quite popular. It’s pretty and decent as a reso, but not a great guitar otherwise. I don’t enjoy playing it much, except maybe with a slide. For my wife it is mostly guitar-shaped wall sculpture.

This announcement on the Delta Resonator Guitars website does not bode well.

They have a contact email address. Did you try that?

On the other hand Beltona also makes CF resonators. I believe they are still in business.

I just went for a plain brass resonator. Although the neck is wood the brass body is pretty much impervious to humidity. It is ridiculously heavy though.

The Beltonas are cool looking instruments, but they don’t appear to be CF. From the website:

Like all Beltona guitars, the Pasifika body is moulded in glass fibre-reinforced resin with a carbonfibre coverplate. This houses a bisquit bridge and Beltona aluminium cone.

It does look as if they are still in business, though - I found an update about their return to New Zealand in September 2023.

I did try the email address, but no reply. I just wondered if they might have changed names or somesuch.

But apparently not. :-p

I didn't know about Beltona, but their work looks very cool indeed! Thanks for the mention.

ADDENDUM - I did get a very nice email back from John Alderson. He said he's pretty much retired at this point, doing only the occasional build.
