I have a Martin D Jr and a 00-15m (custom from LA Guitar sales). Wouldn't part w/ either.

If you end up getting one of the 15s, I think your Junior will see a LOT less playing time. The 15-series guitars are, IMO, some of Martin's best-sounding guitars -- at any price.

I have the 000-15m and the 00-18 and the 15 series is my go to guitar. Like Willie said earlier, if you pick up either the 00 or 000 your Dred jr. is just gonna sit, so i would sell or trade it in for the 00 and of course get the 000. Then you will be set for life.

I have both. The D Jr is a fun thing to have around, but the 00-15 is a great guitar. In my opinion, there is a huge quality and sonic difference between the two. The 00 size sounds great and is a joy to play.

Get the 00-15. You WILL NOT regret it.

I'm not trying to sound snarky here, but the 00-15 is a real Martin, made in Nazareth.

I like how much you love your 00015M!

Thanks! Why did you choose the 00 over the 000?

Truthfully, I wanted something smaller than a dread. I didn't have that size, but I had an Alvarez 000 size. I later got an OM-29, but I still love the 15, and its sweet tone. It's a great couch guitar.

I see. Thanks for replying! Due to my small stature, I prefer the 00 to the 000 as I feel more comfortable playing it...but I like the added bass in the 000...let’s see how it goes...

Older thread, but just wanted to add that a set of bluegrass strings will give you more bass on a smaller guitar. I put a bluegrass set of Martin Monels on my 0015M and they're great!

Since my Dr Jr2 is full solid Sapele, does it make sense to get a 0015M? I understand that Sapele is a cheaper alternative to Mahogany and I find that I really like the tone of the Sapele. It is actually this Dr Jr2 that made me realize just how good the Martin tone and workmanship is, although it is made in Mexico. I’ve always wanted a Made in US Martin.

Those of you who own (or used to own) either a 0015M or 00015M, please tell me just how much you like/love your guitar and why? If I take the plunge and buy this guitar, I may have to sell 2 or 3 of my cheaper guitars later to justify this purchase (in my wife’s eyes). Used 15 series are hard to come by and buying new is my preference. I’ve been eyeing this 2 models for about 3-4 months already. It costs 2.4 times more than a Dr Jr2.

My plan is to go play and try out the Martin 0015M and 00015M again very soon. I went once on a weekend and the guitar shop was too crowded to really assess them properly. Btw, there is no refund (return) policy if I change my mind about the guitar purchase.

I would love to hear your views on how good the 0015M and 00015M is? Is the Dreadnought Junior 2 and the 0015M too similar that it doesn’t make sense having both? Thanks!
Depends on the particular guitar. My first new 000-15m was very ‘tight’, a strict tone machine, maybe a little on the cold side. I parted with it and purchased a second new 000-15m and it is super sweet from the get go. When starting out it’s difficult to judge on your own an exceptional example. In my case it turned out to be an expensive proposition but the gold at the end of the tunnel is almost a life changing experience. Best to have another experienced person with you when trying out new guitars.

I hope it worked out well for you.

I haven’t had much luck or experience with the d jrs/ the full scale of the Nazareth-made will make a big difference as well as the lighter build. I would recommend the 000.
