Congrats mate, I think I may have tried that guitar when I visited Guitarlair. It is an absolute killer of a guitar!! Kudos to Marc at Guitarlair, he is an amazing guy and a pleasure to deal with and I have acquired 4 guitars from him the last couple of years - Collings, Avian, Maestro and Lindsay Marcus.

Thanks for all the well wishes...im enjoying playing the nightingale and getting to know its dostinctive tone.

For the nigntingale owners on agf, i was wondering if anyome has tried medium strings (.13 to .56) andbwhat were the results? Is it advisable to do so?

Also what pickups worked best with it?

Really nice guitar there, congrats! As we've talked before, I am more of a "vintage tone" enthusiast but the Ryans and Olson's I have heard are really special instruments.

Another member (Bobby Swanson) has had a couple of Ryans and posted videos - here's a Cedar / EIR post on youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_xx34Cieac

Sweet!!! Congrats, of all the guitars I've owned the several Ryan Nightingales I've had the pleasure of playing and owning have been my favorites!! Cedar and Rosewood is a great choice for a Ryan!!!!

Congrats! I'm a fairly new owner of a Nightingale Grand Soloist similar to yours, just with florentine cutaway. Aside from the tone and looks, one of the reasons I acquired it was for its long scale. I currently have it dedicated to DADF#AD tuning. It's been great so far especially after narrowing down on the right strings for it. Enjoy your Ryan!

Thats great! I dont know if it is the long scale, but this guitar sure responds to harder attack in an un-cedar like way!

What strings have you found to work best with it? Have you tried Mediums on it?

Congrats for the new guitar and happy to read other Nightingale enthusiasts (mine is slightly custom but still...)

Has anyone tried Xtra-Light strings on theirs ? I'm so happy I did ! It loses nothing but gets more responsive and even louder with highs to die for...

Congratulations! Cedar/EIR is magic in the right hands and I have played guitars by both Olson and Ryan that are stellar examples. Beautiful instruments inside and out. I have a Wingert 00 in cedar and EIR and it is an amazing instrument as well. Enjoy your new guitar for years to come!

Best,
Jayne

A Ryan will always be a bucket list item for me, probably never own one due to price (this is not a criticism.) Something about them pulls me in, every time.

Out of curiosity, does anyone now what strings Ryans ship with?

Even though this is a zombie thread, I always wanted to test drive a Ryan.

Hygiene, my friend. One must always consider hygiene.

(Really enjoyed your soundcloud of "Ciuil Amuigh," Barry. That Avalon has such a sweet tone.)

(And congrats to guitarro on the NGD. Love the inlays!)
