Spent a couple of days in Rocky Mountain National Park this week.

Oh boy, that's something! Look, there's a can of Car Camper beer in the liquor cabinet. And a knot design pillow from Scotland.

Last week my wife and I watched Traffic the film by Jacques Tati that's all about the journey of a French designed camper van (8 or 10 years after this Westfalia conversion) to a car show in Amsterdam. The film gets a lot of bad or condescending reviews but I think it stands up with the rest of Tati's very well.

From my Tasmanian road trip last February. Took a short drive from Launceston up to Ben Lomond, a high rocky plateau encircled by a wall of dolerite bluffs.

This section of road, Jacob's Ladder the only way in & out. Ok that time of year but I imagine a bit hairy in winter with snow & ice on it.

Even for summer it was a pretty chilly, grey day up there. Got back to Launceston it was a sunny 30 deg C

There was some major smoke in the furthest reaches of California from the Smith River Complex fires, which reached up into Oregon and down near Mt. Shasta. Stopped along the I-5 to snap this. Not sure I captured it the way I wanted to, kind of rushed as the wife was waiting alongside the highway and I know she wasn't comfortable as the trucks and cars were rushing by. Would love any feedback.

Shasta in the smoke.

Liked this area on the northern flank.

I like those both a lot, Dirk - very atmospheric. And, I’d guess, pretty much SOOC?

The colors are starting to pop on Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Last 2 days of a week long fishing trip.

Thanks David, it was the layers and smoke that grabbed me. Not SOOC, I added some contrast and warmed it up in post a bit. Pretty murky straight out of camera, didn't do the reality justice.

Very nicely processed, then

I much prefer a more restrained approach to post-processing, like this.

Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho. Just another sunset from our place in the forest.

Appreciate the feedback. I think for this one for sure the restrained approach is better, it's a soft image with more subtle differences in the tones. And I generally agree with you for any or most images. I like a distinctive look for sure, but I don't like it to feel heavy-handed at the end. I go for it feeling special without feeling processed. Not sure I succeed a lot of the time. Open to any critical feedback as well. This one's vexing me a bit. Not quite happy.
