That rock looks like glass work. Thanks for sharing. Someday when we're down to maybe one dog, we plan to travel to more of these sights some of you are sharing. Meanwhile, it's mostly redwood forest and portraits for my camera.

Cloudy skies were not the greatest for the august super blue moon event. But at least I caught a break in between the clouds. Attached my Sony A7III to my Meade ETX90 telescope eyepiece.

60 Corvette heading into town for yesterday's car show.

People's Choice award for the show went to this 1961 Westfalia. Tent is original equipment. Very cool.

I dig the shot of the ‘vette!

Here’s a quick, unedited (slight crop) shot from Brugge last night. Didn’t have a wide angle lens so I’m going to stitch together a few to get the whole shot when I get home.

Fujifilm X100V, Provia film simulation. Maybe a 30 second exposure.

Blue moon taken by Samsung S23 Ultra. 100x "Space Zoom". Default camera settings.

Real or fake? Samsung has been accused of replacing actual moon photos with a detailed file photo. Photo looks like what I saw. Let the controversy continue....

'Samsung simply says it uses a “detail improvement engine function” to “effectively remove noise and maximize the details of the moon to complete a bright and clear picture of the moon” (emphasis added).'

Link is broken. 100x zoom out of that tiny sensor means that that phone is doing some serious processing. Samsung uses ai to reconstruct lost details the camera might not have captured. Is that different to manually bringing up details in post processing? If the sensor did capture those details in the raw data and the phone ai is simply enhancing them, then that’s no different to doing it manually in post. But the controversy is that Samsung is using an ai algorithm that adds the details out of high resolution moon pics which are available all over the internet. To me that’s kinda like claiming that nice flamed top is not a veneer when it actually is.

I think only way to know for sure is if you can extract the raw data off the phone and manually process and see if the details are there.

Revisited a favorite spot to try a new camera and new techniques. First pic is an HDR merge of 5 brackets at 2ev. I normally do this for real estate pics, but this is the first time I do it for a landscape. The result is interesting but I dig it.

Got a chance to stitch together the panorama of 3 vertical images. I just had a 35mm (equivalent) lens, so had to do it to go wide. This is shot from the very popular "Rozenhoedkaai" (quay of the rosary).

Grand Marais, MN. We visit this lovely spot every year.

I never tire of taking photos here, even on a murky afternoon.
