My Goodness John, these guitars not only look fantastic, but sound amazing...especially in the hands of AP.
Thank you for sharing your talent along with one of the true, guitar masters.

Thanks very much. Perhaps I could make you an offer you can’t refuse. (I guess you hear that a lot)

About 20 years ago, I read n the old Acoustic Guitar Magazine form that I could get a custom guitar from John for $1,750. I did. Amazingly beautiful L-OO Cutaway of Flamed Cuban Mahogany and AAAAAAAA Red Cedar. When I ordered it I had sent wrong measurements of my SCGC Dread. The nut width was very wide and the guitar felt wrong. I experimented with string gauges and settled n D’Addario Custom Light.
It became easy to play with a gorgeous, bright tone that recorded beautifully. A few years later, John sent me an OM 28 of Brazilian and Adirondack Spruce. It had a huge, grand piano like tone. When John came to the first SBAIC Festival, each of his guitars had the same Steinway sonority as that OM. I can hear it in the West Coast OM that Al is playing. John, well done! Cheers, Matt

I love the way our paths cross from time to time, though it has been awhile now. Thanks for the kudos and cheers. That means a lot from a talented person such as yourself

The grain was so tight it was hard to see. The back was the most exquisitely figured Cuban Mahogany I have ever seen.

I remember that guitar well. Not the top so much but the rest of it sticks in my mind. That mahogany belonged to an old friend of mine who has since gone on to his reward but who for the longest time would not part with it because he used it to make furniture. It was sawed veneer about 1/8th inch thick and he would make beautiful furniture by veneering it over Spanish cedar. You can imagine how nicely his shop smelled. He finally decided to part with some and I bought all I could afford at the time. He said it was Santa Domingan mahogany which is close enough to Cuba to be nearly the same thing. That guitar has a history.

Oh-oh...
I can't resist. It is futile.
I have sent John the Ernest money. We are talking about the reverse of Steve's BIG GUN. Braz back and sides, Fretboard, bridge, and probably faceplate. Probably plain looking quartersawn Brazilian RW, selected for TONE not looks, but highly figured Koa for all the appointments. Life is uncertain! John's guitars are NOT!!! This will RAWK Paul
