What equipment would you need to give yourself a decent haircut?
I am assuming obviously a large mirror and a swivel chair ( or maybe some kind of movable swivel type mirror on wheels). And perhaps something more professional than a pair of ordinary household scissors. Maybe first watching a you-tube video of someone like Vidal Sassoon cutting hair.
Is that everything? |

A hat to cover the results...

Clippers work great... you might need more attachments depending on the length you want. A mirror and a good pair of scissors will help, but the clippers will do most of it.

Definitely it would be good idea to have two mirrors front and back.

You beat me to it, RP. Amen, brudda.
My last scheduled haircut fell on the first day of closure for all barber/beauty salons here in Texas, and thus had to skip it. So for the time being, I'm going Full Ben Franklin in terms of hairstyle.

I’ve been cutting my own hair for several years. Just use a standard Wahl clipper and a very short #1 guard.
I don’t have that much hair to begin with... I just let it grow till I can’t stand it any more and then I give myself a “buzz”..... This almost-hairless look seems to be favored by many of us coppers..... |

I use a “BIC Select” razor.

I have honestly been cutting my own hair with a simple clipper for about 2 years now anyhow. Saw a Youtube video on it a couple years ago and tried it.
It's simple and takes about 15 minutes. It comes out pretty good. So good that no one knows I did it myself.

I know guys who've been doing their own buzz cuts for years, and they look fine..it ain't rocket science...I know a few guys whose S.O. is quite skilled at cutting their hair for years and they look fine...
I also know a few who've been giving themselves "regular cuts" for years and quite a few more who are attempting it now, and I haven't seen a "selfie" haircut yet that makes me think that it's a good idea... I'm 70 now, and fortunate that my hair is still pretty thick and full and grows quickly...I usually get a cut every 3 weeks, and I'm sure I'm going to be long overdue before I can see my regular stylist, but my wife likes it and tells me to just roll with it...
