This is an interesting thread. $1K for an acoustic archtop to fill a room with sound. I assume the guitar player by himself with no other instruments and people quietly listening? Maybe not $1K but my Eastman AR810CE cost me $1500 and I've seen them used at $1200. A mahogany AR610CE should be around $1000 used. The laminated Peerless Martin Taylor seems to have a nice acoustic tone but they sit around 1700 used when they come up. These all sound good acoustically. But if you want inspiring tone, you'd need to start at $5K used and you need to play them as my inspiring tone may be someone else's poo.

Now amplified, you have so many more choices. Why not a lightly amplified guitar? It is probably the sound you hear on most recordings. You could pick up a decent guitar and small amp used for $1000.
