I have no doubt that Jim has his building down to a science. I was convinced of this 20+ years ago, when I first heard of his guitars and read about him and his methods. I've met and played a few of Jim's guitars. They are very cool.

I would still love to hear Keith play # 1301 or any other of his collection, played by him. That would be very cool!

Are you all just about the build, Keith? Isn't it about what you do with it, as well? What do YOU do with it? I'm all ears!

The guitar I play with every week is an Olson dread Sitka/IRW. This guitar will replace that as my regular guitar. It may not seem like it because you don't know me, but my business and real estate development keep me very busy along with 7 children. You have been asking for months, you mean the summer months when my family stays at the beach and when I commute daily? It is just a matter of getting the time to sit down and do it per your request. I will get to it when I can. Sorry if it does not meet your time schedule.

Is it just about the build, no it is about the end result and the sharing of the process with other people who are interested, just like I am interested in watching other builds. If it doesn't make sense in your world, why don't you bypass watching my build go down and then you won't have to be frustrated that I have these killer guitars and don't spend 40 hours a week playing them. It is all I can do to get to practice Wednesday nights from 830 to midnight and Saturday from 830 to 130. Just haven't worked in the recording session for you.

Do I plan on displaying this guitar in a humidity controlled display case, no. I plan on playing it like I do my other Olson, in fact, it will replace it and the other one is being sold to my band mate. I am not a 5 night a week working musician so I don't get a $350 beater and play that when we play out. Sorry if that does not make sense to you. I would rather be a great CPA and an okay musician than the other way around.

I love seeing my Brazilian rosewood neck. He has only made 4 thus far...and I have one on my earlier SJ 1301.

My wife thought I was funny when we were dating... then she realized that it was just Seinfeld and the summer of George was over LOL

I have gotten other PM's from other people asking what is David's problem with me and why he always comes at me with such an edge. Don't really have an answer, he apparently takes issue with the guitars that I have, the builds that I do, or maybe takes issue that I have all this nice gear and am not a full time musician who spends the time necessary to adequately appreciate all of them. I allocate what I can to music which amounts to about 8 or 10 hours a week. That is on top of a work schedule that is easily 70 hours plus playing on an ice hockey team, a Dad to 7 children, and other obligations that are CPA firm or real estate related.

The way I look at it, is I am perfectly free to choose to play with the nicest gear I can afford if that is what I want to do. Our studio gear is all top notch gear and yes I have a full studio where we practice two days a week and the rest of the time (gasp) it sits empty. Why? Because I can afford to do so. Is it a waste of resouces? Probably but again my choice. It is a benefit of having a successful business being able to not struggle to get what you want. Don't get my wrong, I am about the hardest working guy I know... I work 12 hour days like they were nothing and often work 16 hours. So it is that willingness to sacrifice of my time that gets me an advantage over all the sleeping people in the world from 3:30 am to about 7:00 am when I am working.

When our band needs or wants something, we get it. We want shirts, we buy them.


We want stickers, we order them:

This could go on for a very, very long time and besides hijacking your build thread be about absolutely nothing.

I love seeing the builds. For if I were to win the lottery I certainly would have knowledge of who builds what and how. I will say there are many unsung heroes in the world of Guitar Building. It amazes me how jealousy can rear it's ugly head in the most oddest places...

Well Keith, I too have an issue with all the beautiful guitars you own .........I'm green with envy!!!!!!

On a serious note, I don't believe owning and appreciating a beautifully crafted and sounding instrument should be the preserve of only the most accomplished players.

If that was the criteria I would not have the opportunity to enjoy the journey I am currently on to own a Cornerstone Zion or the upcoming Bashkin. Even one sweet note played and appreciated by the most unskilled player stirs an emotion in the soul.

That's just my humble opinion though - I'm never impressed in the least by my playing, but for some reason I still keep on picking up the instrument.
