That was nice. I like the descending pattern in that G7 shape and the little thumb base run. I am going to practice those licks.
Does this tune have anything to do with the "Cremation of Sam McGee?

Not necessarily related to the famous (and wonderful) poem by Robert Service. Read here by Johnny Cash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2ObMfs8pxc Ragtime Ralph Johnson's music was highly influenced by McGee and that's the reason for the tune. It's almost all first position, and not hard to play. I love simple tunes that make full use of first position (Kottke & Fahey could do amazing things in first position: 'Fisherman' by Kottke, 'Sligo River Blues' by Fahey come to mind). --Bill
