I shall attempt to comment on op's question..(:
I have a theory: that maybe jumbos are more heavily braced compared to the grand concert, because the target audience are strummers...therefore it might be less loud? theory 2: that the fact that jumbos have a wider lower bout, means the top thickness will be thicker than that of the grand concert..therefore it takes more to drive the jumbo top for every Newton of force inflicted upon the strings.. (however I reckon that the volume ceiling will be higher on the jumbo, compared to the grand concert). another vote from me about Goodall jumbos. I find his smaller guitars to be more impressive.. though by no means is the jumbo bad. |

Also, one other observation. I think many of the responses to your thread really are based on the last line: Quote:

Haven't you already taken us down this "I don't like the way my Goodall sounds" route previously? As I recall, you bought this guitar without trying it first - one should have been wiser with that. Many of us own Goodalls and appreciate much if not all there is about them. Most all luthiers make different models, use woods and shapes for different peoples wants and needs. You didn't get one that suits you - that is obvious and you continue to pound that drum. If you don't like yours, you probably should just sell it as you said you were going to, and move on - - - And please stop bashing Goodall - I don't believe you're coming across well. Goodall makes them and is well respected in the industry. Criticizing him and his business model is again, not too bright - - - Anyone can criticize, not just anyone can make a world class guitar. Why didn't you trade your Koa jumbo on the HRGC at the Podium?

Based on your previous posts pertaining to the matter you likely didn't know what you were doing when you bought a X000$ guitar with an unfamiliar (to you) body size and wood combination. Acceptance is the first step to moving on my son, now go in peace and stop whining! |

Okay Man, that is just wach (or WHACK!) but...
I am downsizing to one Goodall and while I love the CJs, I'm keeping the Jumbo. Not what I expected but it takes me to Live at the Regal. Oregon Myrtle/ Italian Spruce. Yeah BayBay (infer Austin Powers voice over).

I asked Donald Trump what kind of guitar he plays. "Jumbo."
