Angry Behringer Uphoria UMC202HD doesn't work for me

I bought one a while back. Had problems with my old laptop freezing up and running super slow. I thought it was the laptop, but after some online research I've discovered that it is the driver for the Behringer audio interface. A lot of people on the internet are complaining about the same problems I'm having. I've tried a lot of the fixes listed on the net and called the company at one point. They had me install their newest driver, which was not easily located on thir website.

I have gotten it to work about 3 times after fooling around with stuff for about an hour each time. It works really well when it works, but I'm absolutely fed up with not being able to just turn the computer on and record something.

The company is bound to be aware of this issue, at least they admitted as much to me when I called. They acted like installing the newest driver would solve the problem and thought it had until the next time I tried to use it and it went right back to the same old crap.
Then one other time I got it working because I unchecked a safety box of some sort in the control panel for the driver. It loaded up and worked after that also. Then the next time I turned on the computer, bam, right back to the same problems. I checked the control panel and the box was still unchecked.

I guess I'm giving up on it. I want something that's inexpensive, simple, easy to use and that works without me having to waste an hour or longer each time.

UPDATE - I just plugged it into the computer and turned the computer on and it worked this time. it's got a mind of its own. And, no it didn't work. Waveform 12 opened but then takes forever when I click on anything. If I unplug the Behringer then it unfreezes.

Nightmare scenario. I hope you find a resolution. I’ve been thinking about moving up to a four input interface, and I have looked at that unit. Eager to hear how it goes for you.

Default Update 5/21/23

I have disabled all the other sound devices on the computer and removed an Audials app that m8ght have been interfering with it.

I turn on the computer, then plug in the Behringer with the 48 voltage power supply for the mic turned off. All of the Behringer's knobs I set to zero. After the computer recognized the Behringer I turn on the power for the mic adjusted the knobs and it worked, once.

I'm going to be gone for a.few days, but when I get back home I will try it again and give another update.

It is worth mentioning that in my research of other affordable to me audio interfaces both the Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen and the Motu M2 have reports of driver issues causing problems.

There's nothing more frustrating than trying to overcome issues like this when inspiration has struck and you REALLY want to simply record.

I use a Zoom R20.

I suggest opening an issue with Behringer tech support. I have the UMC404HD and it has been trouble-free, so you may have a defective unit, something that can happen with products from all manufacturers.

Default 6/4/23 my last update

As of today I have installed the newest driver for the Behringer, Ver 5.57and an update for Waveform. Everything seems to be working all be it a little slow, but I think that's due to my old laptop.
