Default Composite Acoustics serial number help

I think I've read every thread here about the Composite Acoustics serial numbers (and how to decode them). There's a different format for Peavey vs non-Peavey.

But, my serial number doesn't seem to fit either one.

This is a GX Performer. It has an Ibeam pickup on it.

The serial number is GX620227071 . . . just like that . . no dashes or anything else.

Anybody know how to translate that into what year it is? And whether it's post-Peavey or pre-Peavey?

Peavey confirmed that this guitar was prior to when they bought Composite Acoustics, so I guess that establishes that it's earlier than 2010.

Still, the serial number doesn't seem to match the other ones I've seen shown for pre-Peavey serial numbers. Like the one on my Cargo: CCE08059-3 . . this would be a 2008 model (from the 08), made on the 59th day of the year (from the 059) and was the third guitar made on that day (from the -3).

So maybe the serial number on the GX means:

GX62 (some sort of model number)
02 (from 2002)
made on 270th day (from 027)
71st guitar on that day (from 071)

But, I don't think so. I don't think the GX was around in 02 (was CA even around then?). And even if they were, I don't think they were making 71 guitars a day back then.

My guess might be that this is a late 2009 or early 2010 model (before Peavey) and that they changed how the serial numbers worked then?

Does anybody know when CA started making the GX model?

This looks like mine (has the LR Baggs I-beam), and it's a 2009 model.

Just can't see the serial number in any of the pics.

I think Composite Acoustics introduced the GX in 2007.

It's likely a pre-Peavey model as Peavey models have an 003 number sequence at the beginning of the serial number on the label, for example:

CA Legacy Gloss 003BFA1200164

The 003 designates it as made in Meridian, Mississippi, and the BFA places it as being made in January 2015

The Peavey year sequence is:
*The first letter B is the decade;
*The second letter is the year starting with A being 2010, B being 2011, etc.;
*The third letter is the month with A being January through K being December. Examples:

BAA = 2010 January, the first Peavey year

BBA = 2011 January

BCA = 2012 January

BDA = 2013 January

BEK = 2014 December

BFA = 2015 January

BGE = 2016 May

Default serial number help?

Hello all

Well, the wife came home yesterday from her guitar lesson with a new toy.

She bought a used Composite Acoustics guitar. Just didn't have any particulars on it like when it was made. Now I find out the company went belly up.

It's a great looking guitar.
What strings should she use?
when was it made?
is it pre-Peavy?
what is the approx. value?
Thanks for any info?

the SN is: 003BFD0100689 C.W.

Did you look at the post right above explaining the serial numbers? It's post-Peavey, made in April 2015.

I have one made in Sept. 2016. (003BGIxxxxxxx). I think it came with Elixirs stock, and I've tried D'Addario phosphor bronze (EJ16) but have since settled on DR Rare light (12-54). String choice comes down to personal preference.

Original price was typically just south of $3K, depending on options (for example, I special ordered with the built-in Fishman Aura with modeling specifically for the GX that bumped the price up a bit). Right now on Reverb they seem to be asking about the same amount, $3Kish, but who knows if folks are actually buying them at that price? I'd peg actual value a bit lower, but there are so few it's hard to actually say.

Thanks, I guess I didn't see it initially. Looks like she got a decent deal on it. Got from a shop that had taken it on consignment. No paperwork with it.
