Default Niftly little mic adapter

I found this On Stage ball joint adapter to be pretty helpful.

Ball Joints certainly give you the freedom to move in any direction quickly. Certainly easier than adjusting/moving mics stands to get the angle desired.

However, the ball joint itself is entirely loose until you tighten it. This could allow for disastrous mistakes, as the microphone abruptly drops to the full downward position. With the light weight of SCD's, it should not be much of a problem. Just hold mic with one hand while tightening with the other. Still, I am not personally willing to risk it with High performance SCD's. Of course, I am that overly cautious type of guy.

Or entirely tight until you loosen it!

I have two of these and can recommend them. Once tightened they're solid enough to hold a 4 lb mic.

"4 Lb Mic" -- great name for a string ensemble

For lighter mics, I have a two sets of this gooseneck and clamp. It makes it easy to make small adjustments from your chair. Each gooseneck/clamp combo runs about $22.

On-Stage 13" Microphone Gooseneck
On-Stage TM03 Table Microphone Clamp

Barry,

FWI

Is there a need for a mic adapter as you have shown when, at least in my example here, one would have full adjustment capability?
