With my overlays I've always done some sort of mosaic design making good use of my scrap wood. When I saw this piece of Madagascar I knew there was only one way to do it; frame it with Ebony binding just like the body. Keep it simple, classy, and let the wood speak for itself.

Here is the overlay bound in Ebony which is a first for me. The binding at the top is purposely left long so I can angle back the peghead end much like a mandolin. You need the extra length to adjust for the 10° back angle and still end up with an even .080" binding thickness.

That Madagascar rosewood is very nice. It looks a bit like Brazilian rosewood.
