Default Which pickguard for this Taylor?

I'm in the process of buying this 810WMB. It has no pickguard, but I'm a heavy strummer and I know I'll need one so I don't scratch the finish. What are your opinions on a pickguard?
Thanks for your help!
-Chris

Here's a picture of the guitar:

Sorry, I had tried to post a poll for this thread!
I'm considering calling Taylor for either a clear or a tortoise shell pickguard. Thanks!

I would go with the clear, possibly with some scrollwork (similar to Bagelsgirl's). You might try one of those picnxr's to see how you like the clear before actually installing it.

I think that guitar looks stunning without the pickguard! the ones with the narrow rosette like that look good without. I'd definitely go clear IMHO.

I also vote for clear. I don't think your guitar's personality needs any more complexity.

Agreed - that WMB has a very cool, simple look that I wouldn't mess with. Any pick marks it may eventually get should only add to its character.

Just my $.02.

Clear. Taylors clear is tough and thin. almost invisable from a foot away. And its free! Just call customer service. JW

Beautiful guitar. I don;t know if you've noticed it though but that thing's strung up backwards.

If it was me, I wouldn't put a fake tortoise guard from Taylor on there. I just don't like the "red pepperoni" look of the guards they use. I'd be inclined to either go clear (and look into the removable kind, do a search here) or, you wouldn't have to get a fancy inlayed one like I did, but it would still be cool to get a Taylor shaped guard made out of that Tor-Tis material made by John Greven. It is really cool stuff and pretty affordable too, it looks like real tortoise and comes in different varieties of shading... Thats just me, I don't like the red pepperoni and wouldn't want to stick it on a beauty like yours....

Bagelsgirl,

I kind of like the pepperoni. I'd prefer mushroom, sausage and onion......

Thanks to all who replied.

Leftydude and Rbachman,
I hadn't noticed anything about the strings. Do you mean they're strung as a "lefty"? I don't have the guitar yet, I've just agreed to buy that guitar and I should have it within the next week or so.

Chris,

PLEASE forgive them..They play left-handed, so..to them the guitar is strung wrong! The picture looks great! I'd go for a clear guard, if I'd go for one at all.

Best Wishes, Bill
