Taylormade, I had a 314 and sold it. I have so far not been able to resist the search for the holy grail of Taylor's and I keep buying and selling. That 314 was 1 sweet sounding machine and I should have kept it. Plain, yet just as easy to play as the more expensive ones and the sound is and was awesome. dink

Talking

TaylorMade,

I have a 2001 314ce that I purchased last April, and have no regrets, but a couple of comments. If you strum hard very much, or have to keep up with other instruments with out an amp, it can get buzzy and muddy in its sound. I do not do that much so I am fine with it. A 310 or other x10 dreadnaught may be your ticket. Also, think about getting a 314 without the "ce", and find a pick-up for it. You may find one you like better than the Fisher on-board system. No complaints about the Fisher, but I do not know if it is the best choice for my tastes either. Search for pickups on the site and there are lots of opinions on this. It is what started me to think about it too late.

My decsision on the 314ce was based on how far could I push my budget(I hate that word) and what sounded great. I visit stores and play other guitars and Taylor's, and I am still pleased with the 314ce for my needs.

Good luck,

Hey,

I have a 2000 LOTF 314K, and it's an absolutely fantastic guitar. I actually traded a 314ce on it (as I had no use for c, or e), and while the regular 314 is a fabulous guitar, the Koa really makes this one.

what do you all think of the 300 series in comparison to the other series?

I think it's overall the best value in the line-up. Beginning around February, I spent a few months trying out various different Taylors, Martins, Larravee's etc. at all the local shops and I kept coming back to this one Taylor 310. Seriously I AB'd it with several and got a few other opinions... it just happened to be a very special 310 and was better sounding than gtr.'s several thousand dollars more!

I, too, consider the 300s to be the very best value in the Taylor line. I've gigged with a LOTF 314kce. I've had the action professionally set up, but otherwise it is stock. In general, I strum pretty lightly and switch between strumming and fingerstyle often. When I'm live with a group, this guitar is great. It is built well, looks nice, plays well and sounds great. My playing partners like its sound and regularly comment favorably on it.

I have one of the new 314ltd's. Wow! If you get a chance to play one, do so. Not much of a looker but she makes up for it in sound.

I have a 314K. See johnh's comment above. If I could get it, I'd love a 312Kc without e. - Bill J

Trombone,

I played a 310ce LTD last night. Sweeeeeet!! I love that new wood that I can't pronounce, but it really sounds nice and I think it looks pretty neat too, but I like to be different.
