It's in parentheses and has a questionmark for chrissakes. Is this board really that hostile to free speech? Maybe I chose the wrong guitar board....

As long as the topics are within the forum discussion guidelines we can discuss whatever we want. This isn't our house, we are all guests here. So we have to behave accordingly.

I see. Prohibited topic doesn't bother me. I thought there was an approved narrative, and criticizing or questioning it with even one hedge word was prohibited. I do not patronize houses with those kind of rules.

You aren't paying attention. The policy is that you can't discuss the coronavirus at all, not prohibition of disagreement with your version of the corona narrative. You are as much in violation as Carey.

They probably will, and yours. Your brief reply somehow managed to contain numerous basic fallacies, but I refrained from arguing. The policy is not to talk about covid, not "it's okay to talk about covid if a moderator hasn't taken down another violation yet".

Mark in LA: wouldn't the correct word for what you're suggesting be
"censor", rather than "take down"? Let's give things their proper names-

And yet here you are Mr.Dak employing very word for thing we're not supposed to talk about !
The pure, unbiased way would be to stay out altogether and let Admin catch the wrongitudes that members make...

Good tidings in the new year, M

Are you capable of saying anything that isn't a fallacy? You didn't stay out of it, you violated the policy then justified it with 'two wrongs make a right'. I was talking about the policy itself, not violating it. You are doing a great job illustrating the mentality of someone who tattles on someone they aren't even talking to for one ambiguous word of wrongthink.

Way to derail a thread, guys!
Personally I find the topic of playing without nails more interesting.

My favorite no-nails-touching player is Virginia Luque, linked or embedded below. Her website says, or used to say, (my paraphrase from years ago.) "Playing without nails is more difficult than with nails." Her context was "the learning curve", if I recall.

Some players simply prefer the sound and the feel of nailless. Others, I fear give it a try as a hoped-for shortcut, workaround for not wanting to train for good right-hand mechanics.

I call it "no-nails-touching" because (in VL's case at least) they do advocate letting the nail be long enough to support the fingertips, a stiff "backing" of sorts, but not touching strings.

To the OP and 'playing professionally', you have responses supporting both styles of playing the guitar so far so I'd just like to add that more to the point, you need the 'talent' to be able to play professionally. That's not a dig at you since I have no idea about your performance ability.

And, perhaps the mods will delete the off topic posts.
