So as part of the Pro Tools Inner Circle rewards I downloaded the free Plugin Alliance = Maag Audio EQ4 and am pretty impressed what it does on vocals

BTW it is on sale at Plugin Alliance for $19.95 (down from MSRP of $229)
It is the plugin version of Maag Audio dual channel $2500 hardware unit


I will try to do a demo video a bit later

Kev, you always have the smoothest vocals...so if you are liking it...and it is only $19.95....sounds like a no brainer. Can't wait to hear your demo! I am sure I will buy this just based on your recommendation. How long is it on sale for?

I am at the point where I am trying not to buy anymore Plugins. Just bought the Arturia 76 fet on sale for half price( been waiting months for it go on sale. Over now)....I have a whole bunch of plug ins have not even tried yet! ha ha...Just preping my arsenal.

I like the description of being Musical EQ, and not surgical. Only have FAB Filter Q3 & Baby Audio smooth operator( a type of EQ). So buying just one more could not hurt.

Ok here is a very off the cuff -run and gun video demo.
So this is only the second time I have used this plug in
When I first downloaded it I just opened a session and tried it on a vocal selected a 'Male Vocal " preset and played it

So for this video I took that preset and dialed it down a fair bit made it one of my presets. But to be sure I am only just starting to learn how to best use this plugin but IMO it has great promise especially on vocals
(note ) "In" is the plugin engaged and "Out" is bypassed

HOWEVER NI is offering two discount codes for Plugin Alliance that give you $10 off for each sale. with a minimum of $20 purchase. Darn....Maag EQ 4 is $19.99 ha ha..so I presume it won't work for that plug in.

I am considering buying the Shadow Hills Mastering compressor Class A compressor. On sale for $29 and with the discount code MAR-10-OFF-3 or MAR-10-OFF-4 I can get that $10 off for $19.99. I hear this one is better than the UA version.
Only good for another two days...ends the 16th.

IMO The AMEK Mastering compressor is far better than the Shadow Hills & is also on sale

It's based on the GML 8900.

I have both, and just find the Shadow Hills very uninspiring. The optical section is nice, but the discrete section is just too cold for my tastes. Honestly, I'd rather the SSL Bus Compressor over the Shadow Hills. It's livelier.
