The Telecaster is in a race to be the greatest guitar ever developed.

It ain't just the acoustic players who love them...

I had a red bound 1990's CIJ Donahue tele. It sounded really great. V neck was awesome. But I have other specs that I need at this point so I am building a MJT tele part caster with high end parts (about $1,100 into it). I ordered a custom finished single piece Swamp Ash body with see thru burgundy mist. Just ordered a real bakelite 11 hole pick guard. I have a Muzikraft maple neck. Medium fat. Not sure if I will put in Lollar T's or 52RI Fender tele pick ups. Going with black graphtec ratio tuners.

Tele's cut through the mix. So many useable tones... can solo like a banjo on the bottom PU and play R&B and jazz on the top PU.

Yet I like strats more. Too many gigs with them. Tele control plates are not ergonomically designed. Also the strat body is the most "wrap around your body" feel of any guitar. They also have bell tones that tele's do not have. But all the parts need to be just right to get that tone. I just had my luthier build 3 for me. One with a rosewood neck. Tele is up next and Esquire after that.

Quite simply it's a great players guitar . I have a Jerry Donahue Tele , have a listen to the Hellicasters to see what three telecaster type guitars can achieve

I don’t think their is any correlation between acoustic players and tele’s or Strat’s personally. To each their own, but I’m a Strat guy 100%. Clearly Leo had a hit with the Tele and Strat. However, I find the Stat more versatile sonically.

This statement pretty much sums it up for me. If I had to choose one I would have to say I am more of a Tele guy, but I really love both, almost equally.

When I bought my American pro Tele I was VERY close to getting a pro Strat that caught my eye, and my ears. That guitar was awesome in every way.

You can't go wrong with a Strat or a Tele...Or a Les Paul, for that matter.

I have no idea. I've owned quite a few electric guitars, but never a Tele. Growing up it always seemed like a country band guitar, and I never played in a country band.

When I was growing up it was definitely THE country guitar. But it was also the Steve Cropper guitar.

And a Muddy Waters guitar. And a Joe Strummer guitar. And a Jimmy Page guitar. And a Roy Buchanan guitar. And a Keith Richards guitar. Seems a Tele can do **** near any style of music. Maybe that is why they are popular.

They are fine instruments. But I have never liked the looks or sound. That's just me.

The guy who put together my partscaster simply put a strat pickup in the neck position. He also used a strat shaped body with tele routing, adding the arm and belly cuts. Awesomeness....

Yes, I like the strat body.

I would question the premise. I haven't found that to be true. But I do love Teles. And Strats. And SGs. And Les Pauls.

Why do acoustic players like Telecasters

I'm another one who thinks the question might be faulty, based upon anecdotal evidence from possibly one region. Acoustic guitar players in my region play everything electric under the sun. However, I have experienced the presence of the Telecaster Mafia, whose answer to every electric guitar question is, "Isn't the Telecaster 100% better than all the rest?"

Were I forced to answer the question above, my answer might be, "Just crazy, I guess."
