Default Tom Anderson Alternatives?

Hi,

I've had a couple Tom Anderson's in the past and loved the older ones but I'm not a big fan of the Buzz Feiten Tuning System. I don't think he makes guitars without the BFTS anymore but I'll need to research that.

Assuming that's true, I'm not sure I want another Anderson.

Can you suggest some comparable alternatives in that style? I guess you call them "Super Strats" or something along those lines.

I heard Suhr is similar. Can you suggest some other builders I should be looking at?

Thanks!

I have a Tom Anderson on order, but I looked hard a Suhr before I ordered. Very well made Guitars.

What don't you like about the BF tuning system?

I didn't "hate" the BFTS... don't get me wrong. I'm still considering another go at a TA. I just found the temperament hard to get used to after years of the guitar's equal temperament.

It was probably just me being unreasonable

Suhr, as mentioned, is often spoken of in the same breath as Anderson. They look awesome.

I have a Kirn on order, a Nashville-style Tele with arm/belly/heel contours. That also has a Piezo. Hoping to get it within the next couple of weeks. I'm sure he can build you a stellar HSH Strat.

Tyler is also mentioned. You might get good info on The Gear Page. Keep us posted on what you find out and decide!

Suhr and Don Grosh are the same type of quality. I have one of each and they are quality. Ron Kirn mentioned by someone else also does a nice build. There are some other builds out there that are also nice but many of them are reliced which is a no go for me.

Look at a Suhr if you have a chance. Used ones can be a good buy. I have a Suhr Strat type Pro and a vintage t type, both great guitars. Grosh builds are great and the Gosh Tele type I have is the quietest T type that I own. -- Darwin

Looking at the Kirn site now... thanks for the tip!

Grosh! I've heard great things about him... my heads been so deep in acoustic world I forgot about him. I shall investigate.

Thanks! Keep the ideas coming if ya have more.
