Default Proper tuning pegs

I Recently bought a new acoustic Hohner acoustic guitar. I love the sound quality and the action is fantastic. the only problem that I have is the tuning pegs. they are old and seem to be unresponsive at times.
my goal is to have tuning pegs that can adjust quickly to change pitches mid song. that being the case I don't really know which kind of tuning pegs to get.

I would go to Stewart-MacDonald at stewmac.com. They have a good selection at different price ranges. They also have detailed measurements for each product. Sometimes you can match up to your old ones others take various modifaction. If your a do it yourselfer go on You Tube for some examples of what to do Stew-Mac, also has videos on the subject. If not a guitar tech should make the instalation for you.

Check out the Gotoh tuners at Stew-Mac. Good quality / good price

yes, I'd like to be able to drop at least a full step quickly on any string.

All you need to do that accurately and easily is:

A.) Have good quality tuning gears on the instrument;

and

B.) Keep your strings fresh. Once strings get past their peak, it's much harder to tune quickly and precisely.

As for the tuners, I recommend Gotoh brand tuning gears. You don't have to get their expensive, top of the line 510 gears. Just the basic ones, which will run you about $35, is all you need.

Hope this helps.

There are banjo tuners which I think are called "Scruggs pegs" or "Keith pegs" (no relation!) which allow you to do that. I have come across people who have had them fitted to their guitars, (maybe specific guitar versions?) though I have no personal experience of them.

Yup, here's UK player Adrian Legg - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUpeQ...eature=related
