Default My first NGD on the forum! Seagull Maritime SWS Natural AE

It came in last night!! This is my second “real” steel string, I traded my older SWS in to get this one. My only complaints with the previous model, a 2018, were purely cosmetic, I actually felt a little guilty putting it in the case to take it to the store to pick up the new one. The older one had a super dark finish that hid the grain on the back and sides, and a burst finish on the back. I know it seems sacrilegious to some, but I do not like burst finishes. It also had a small, almost microscopic separation between the fret boards and the next right where it joined the nut. From what I hear is very uncharacteristic of Seagull, and I had almost worn it out from playing. I was the only one who knew it was there, but it was like popcorn stuck between your teeth, I just kept returning to it.

Anyway, all the guilt went out the window as soon as I held this one. I think it’s beautiful. It plays identical to my old one, and I think it sounds a little better, the bass seems to come out a little more, and the highs seem a little brighter, but that may just be wishful thinking on my part, or the new and different strings.

This is also my first acoustic electric, I’ve never played plugged in before, so I’m looking forward to trying that.

This is probably going to me my penultimate guitar, I’m not talented enough to warrant paying much more for one, and I have some hearing damage and tinnitus from a head injury. It’s hard justifying spending much more for so little ROI sound wise for me. Besides, I’m in love with this one.

I’m still looking for a used S6 to add to the stable down the road, I’d like to have a cedar top, and something to travel with for late autumn camping trips.

Very nice. I’m really starting to enjoy the seagull I bought a few weeks ago.

Congrats! If you hang around the AGF this will not be your penultimate guitar. .

You shouldn't have problem finding a used cedar S6 for a good price - just keep your eye open.

Default Congrats! Love the headstock design

Great looking guitar -- interesting taper headstock design, too.

Hope you enjoy for years to come.

Seagull makes some excellent guitars, enjoy your addition. I found my first S6 used on Craigslist for about $250.00, however I've seen ones in good condition go for as little as $125.00 so keep your eye out.
