Here's an out-of-the-box idea. Sell or trade the G-45, Martin X1 and Taylor 110 and get yourself a really good guitar that complements your 814ce, like a Gibson J45 or Martin D18. Then you would have two excellent guitars that are different and keep the Washburn as a backup/beater.

Sell it and look for a J-15. I had one and I thought it was great. Even though it was a slope shoulder it sounded just like my J-30 - which sounds awesome. I would get one again.

I really like my Martin and 110. I wouldn’t want to sell either of them.

If it doesn't suit you the decision is easy.

I got a good one, love the sound and playability.
I've owned two Taylors a 214ce and a 414ce, not my cup o tea.

I've never been a fan of keeping a guitar that I don't like to hear when I play it...

Maybe “ wanting a Gibson acoustic” is not a good strategy for you to use.

Some folks take a guitar they own with them when they go shopping for a new guitar to ensure both that they are getting a different tone profile, and that they like the different tone profile. No sense in buying the same tone over and over, but also no sense in buying a guitar that you don’t really like.

Sorry you are facing this kind of disappointment. But after 6+ months, it seems like you know what you need to know. Time to act on what you know, IMO.

To get that Gibbie sound, and the nice walnut you like, trade it in for a J-15 (a truly great guitar) and don’t look back.

The times when I’ve been in Gibson dealerships I’ve dutifully taken down and played a number of the various Gibson Studio models, but never found any that I liked enough to want to buy them.

I suspect that they record rather well and with their shallower body depth they’re undoubtedly more comfortable to play for players who have shoulder problems and can no longer use a guitar as deep-bodied as a standard J-45.

But the examples that I have played didn’t do much for me from a tonal standpoint.

Everything is a trade-off, I guess.

I'd put it away for a few months first, then bring it back out and see if you still aren't crazy about it. I mention this because I loaned out a guitar to a student so he had an instrument to play and I got it back yesterday-- a guitar I was thinking of selling now suddenly sounds great to me.

It's DEFINITELY possible to just not like the sound of a guitar. It's happened to lots of us. Move on once you're convinced. And as a J-15 owner, I'll say what others have said if you're looking to get into a more affordable Gibson.

I sampled a G45 and did not like it either. It wasn't bad, but it did not sound like a Gibson. I would pass on it and get something else.

I agree with the Rev’ here.
I used to own six acoustics. There were three that rarely got played.
One, almost never and the other two occasionally.
I had whittled down my collection to the three I now own and I play them all like this ....
J45 40%
J15 30%
D18 30%

Some have suggested a used J15 instead of the G45. I don’t disagree, but your Taylor has your ear and I doubt that will change with a J15.
If you don’t enjoy any guitar vs another that much and you find it hard to pick up, time to say goodbye.
If you want a “companion” to the Taylor, sell a couple of the ones you got and go find a J45...now you’re talkin’
BTW, a 2006 814ce is a tone monster and I can easily understand why you like it. That’s a keeper!

Maybe you just prefer the Taylor & Martin tone. Hold on to it for a while longer or maybe change strings on that G-45. It may sound different. If after that, you still don’t like it, then maybe it’s time to say goodbye to that Gibson. Only you, have the answer!
