That bevel and that purfling look especially tasty!
And that bearclaw top--Geez!

Beautiful work Mark. I love the contrasting look of "The Tree", Cocobolo and "The Fiddleback Tree" used together here.

Thanks Jamiejoon! It took some fooling around to get the figure to go the right way as it bent around the guitar bout. I’m very happy how it all lined up in the end.

Fretboard, Bridge and Headplate
We're going to go with Snakewood for the fretboard, bridge and headplate. The color and look fit right in!

Woodsman 00
I usually start a new guitar on the first of each month. I have a lot going on with this Josie Tree guitar so I haven't really shown the others I have running now. I thought I'd start to catch you up on a Eastern Black Walnut and Tunnel 14 Redwood Woodsman OO:
Both woods were milled well over a hundred years ago. It appears the Walnut likely spent a year or two in a lake. That was how they would darken sapwood back then. Here I'm planing the back on a shooting board to get a clean, strong joint: With the back joined I cut out an oversized profile: I then add the center graft, in this case I'm doing cross-grained Redwood from the top: I use a thickness planer to even it up: I also clean up the glue squeeze out before I feather the edges of the graft: Thanks for viewing! Mark

Mark, it’s always fun to check in and see your stellar work. The Tree guitar is a great example. I expect the Woodsman is going to be beautiful, as well.
