Default Keep My Taylor 210 or Move On To a PRS Acoustic?

Maybe I'm letting my gear lust get the best of me, but I'm strongly considering trading my 2006 Taylor 210 (the all solid wood, spruce and sapele, made in US version) for a PRS SE A50e acoustic. I have three PRS electrics, and I love them. The A50e is a Chinese-made, solid spruce top, laminated maple back and sides affair, but something about it intrigues me. But I certainly am satisfied with my Taylor too...

Any thoughts? Would this be a downgrade, since the Taylor is all solid and US made?

If the PRS sounded better, I’d move on it.

If I couldn’t play it, meaning I have no idea how it sounds, I would not.

As someone who bought, then sold, a prs se acoustic, I would say not to. At first the prs sounded different enough that it intrigued me. After two weeks with it, I found that different does not equal better. Dropped it like a hot potato.

I have a feeling you would regret getting rid of the Taylor almost instantly. If, on the other hand, you plan on keeping the Taylor and buying the PRS, then have at it.. but those old solid wood 200 series are really nice, getting hard to find and, in my opinion, the better guitar between the two. YMMV, of course.

BTW, I also have a PRS electric that I love.... But as far as their acoustic guitars go.... Meh

Guys...I really appreciate the input on this. I'm going to pop in to Guitar Center and try the PRS they have, but your wisdom has helped to temper the gear lust fires. I'll keep y'all posted.

Take your Taylor with you for an A/B.

I think the old all solid 210 is the most bang for the buck acoustic that i’ve ever had.
And this is coming from a PRS fanboy. I would never do it!
BUT if you like the sound & feel you the PRS more than the Taylor then the answer is ”do it”.

I have a 114 that for the few hundred I would get for it, would not trade it for anything. Right now it is my open G machine and has a wonderful growl. I bet your 210 does too

Keep in mind that if Taylor were selling a guitar with the 210’s specs right now, they would likely be charging between $1500–2000 for it. I realize they were cheaper at the time, because I own one myself, but this is a guitar in a class or two above the PRS.

I’d keep the Taylor and start putting some money aside — if you still love the PRS when you’ve got that amount, you go for it — or maybe you’ll find by then you’d rather save for something else.

Of course, this is all subjective and ultimately your call — good luck!

I wouldn’t do it. That Taylor 210 is a great guitar and IMHO one of those instruments that is simply worth more than you paid for it just because Taylor is off to a different set of goals these days than back then.

I wouldn't. Pretty looks may attract you, but you have to live with the lady...
