Well, OO style with nut width under 1,75" for less than one gran.

I see a used Martin OO-15 as already suggested.
The Eastman you saw would do it.

Now, I do not know Godin's Simon & Patrick but read a lot of good about these.

Why not an Alvarez ?

Unfortunately, I need 1,75" nut width and my Godin's Seagull Performer does it !

Taylor has 1,75" nut width but Academy series as well as used two hundred series could be found under one gran.

Perhaps a Taylor GC3 or 312?

The Taylor Grand Concert size is close to a 00. GC3 and 312 models can be found in that price range. Only problem is that most of the them will have a 1&3/4 nut so that may not work for you. Some of the older 312’s have a smaller but width and skinnier neck.

Well. after playing a few guitars I've decided I can live with a 1 3/4 nut width provided the neck is not super thick. I think what put me off more on the Waterloo was the combination of thick neck and 12 fret join, so the neck tapered to the heel more quickly, therefore feeling even thicker than one would see on a 14 fret neck-join.

So now the Guild M series are back in the running. I already know I like the neck shape from having the D-20. I wish they had a model with a gloss lacquer all around. I much prefer it to satin. My budget is also up to around $1200. Hoping I can maybe find an LG-2AE or one of the newer '50s LG2s used around that mark...

A bit higher priced, but the M-25 is the “fancy” version of the M-20, and has a gloss finish, along with some other appointments not found on the M-20.

Since you’ve decided a 1.75” nut width would work for you, you should check out the Alvarez MPA66. 12 fret slothead, they call it a parlor but it’s an 00 body size. All solid wood, GC has a used one right now for $499.99.

Alvarez AP66 parlor is 00 size. Bone nut and saddle, 1.75" nut, 24" scale... I bought one for my son a while back and it is outstanding. It punches way above its weight class. Highly recommended.

Well, I am surprised you are considering the M20, given that you did not like how the wl-12 handled. I think the M20 is an excellent guitar and would recommend it wholeheartedly. But it does have a thick neck and a 1.75" nut. It handles very similarly to my wl-12 (which is great, for me)

If it truly does suit you ergonomically, I would recommend the M20 over any other guitar suggested in this thread. It is very lightly built though, so consider that. I have seen two that split in the top.

Given that neck/comfort is vital, though, I would recommend you give the AE more thought. It is probably more 'versatile' than the M20 (but the M20 would still be my personal choice over the AE2 - it sounds very very sweet to my ear, very similar to my wl-12. I'd love to have one)

I have a Farida Ot-25 that I really like a lot. Hard to find used, but in your price range new.

I would have to agree with you there. The Adirondack top and flames mahogany back & sides are quite a bonus in this price range. Hand carved necks... just saying. They’re worth checking out.

Since your budget increased and you’re now open to 1.75 nut, I would agree that the Guild M-20 is a best option. (Or a smaller Larrivee, which, if used, would fit your previous budget). If it’s at all possible for you to play the M-20 first, I would urge you to do that. I ordered one online that opened up beautifully but had buzzing issues that couldn’t be resolved so I sent it back. I hope to get another once nature’s wrath abates and local shop stocks are replenished.
