Today I rough-carved the slots in the headstock and put on the first 2 quarters of the binding.

Today is my Daughter's Birthday Celebration, and I will take the day off . . . almost. The Madrone/Adi "Flamenco" is final sanding away from finish. Fresh pics:

Great looking guitar. Please post a close up of the Sexauer “S” rosette when you get a chance.

Thank you. See posts 5 and 6. More later, of course, when under finish.

I have heard before that my guitars seem to build unusually quickly. Partly that is because I am a full time builder, whereas many who share here have obligations beyond lutherie (day jobs). Another big factor is that I build one guitar at a time, rather than in batches. This may be relatively inefficient, but I am quite certain the guitars are better for it. It also means any mistakes I might make are limited to one guitar, and I therefore progress faster on the path to mastery. Win/win.

I've got 6 coats of oil varnish on this guitar, and that's either one or two to go.

I am a bit frustrated in that the guitar looks SO much better than a week ago, but the pictures fail to show it.

Now the painful wait for the curing process - much worse for all of us as we aren't moving on to the next guitar like you are! This one already looks fantastic, Bruce, thanks for letting us follow along.

I have been using a higher proportion of the Murdoch 500 in my varnish, and as an experiment, I buffed out the Madrone Hybrid after only 4 days of cure time. It will be instructive to see how that goes. Over the last couple of days I fretted it, installed gold Schertler classical tuners, and made and installed a Madrone bridge. Might get away with stringing it toward the end of today!

I have been playing the guitar, and tuning constantly, for the last hour or so. I could not be happier, especially knowing as I do that it will be even better tomorrow.
