I'm a sucker for a good burst, so my vote is that 'burst that beauty! The image you shared with your other burst guitar swayed me...

True enough for the top. Bear claw abounds there which is runout in spades and desirable in my opinion. Actually that's true of the rest of the guitar as well. My hope is that the burst stain will accentuate those local areas of runout.

Love the natural beauty. Appreciate the wood, rather than hide it. No burst!

I'm kind of late, and this may already have been decided, but I like the idea of a light burst, all around.

I know what you mean about the burst pattern being atypical, but something about that pattern calls to me. Somehow the simulated wear looks more authentic than a regular sunburst.

I'm calling Tony
The burst sample I posted is cool but standard. The burst sample you showed is unique - Not something you see every day. I love it. So I'm voting twice.
But I will assume my second vote does not count.
So IMHO....Burst that baby.

There's been a lot of focus on burst maple backs, but I feel the key factor is the bearclaw in the top. I think that will look best as it ages naturally.

No burst. Too beautiful to cover up, even partially !

Taller to date: 31 in favor of a burst
12 in favor of no burst

There were a few fence stradlers

I do believe I will burst the box, probably the neck too. Of course the neck too.

Thanks all for your input. The only decision now is whether to do that hourglass burst or a more traditional bulls eye burst. Any input on that?

I think shotgun sunbursts cover too much of the wood grain. And, especially with birdseye, which is so visually beautiful, you will be doing that guitar a disservice.

Either can be cool. I DO suggest leaving the dark parts transparent as opposed to opaque. Wood grain is still cool through the darker stain.

My hope is accentuate the grain. I thinking that the contrast between maple and the ebony binding is too severe without the moderating influence of a gentle burst..
