Default Top Bracing

Here are some pictures of the top bracing. A nylon string guitar truly is a different animal than a steel string. The nylon is braced to bring out the trebles and the steel strings is "all about the bass"

Cheers!

That was a Lensbaby. You can only take so may "everything in focus" shots in a row.

I live with a 'Penelope', as in 'faithful one'.

But I'd sure love to meet this Penelope...

As a photo minor in college, I hear you. Photography is so much more than point and click.

Lensbaby has made tilt shift lens affordable and more practical. I played with tilt shifting a bit while shooting with a large format camera years ago.

I didn't know the story behind the Penelope name.

Thanks for that!

Thanks!

Default Magpies

OK, it's time to go back to the beginning. This is a tribute guitar to my client's wife (Joy) who has recently passed. When the time comes this guitar will stay in the family and given to the client's artistic daughter.

The Magpie nursery rhyme (at the beginning of the thread) was significant to the family because Joy was the name of the clients wife and when their family became three it was a girl. I was asked to somehow incorporate that into the guitar.

Here are the original rough mock-ups I proposed:

The white is to be done in bone and we'll let the Black Ebony and the human eye create the rest. The two Magpies are the first thing you would normally see indicating Joy as in the rhyme.
One magpie is in flight the other has his back turned in memory.

A third magpie will be on the end graft:

The end graft will also be Black Ebony. This third magpie (a girl) is face forward to indicate the future.

My challenge is to cut these thin lines out of bone now that I said I could do it!

This is what I imagine holding a hummingbird egg would be like:

Phew! That's one:

Just out of curiosity, which lensbaby did you use?
