Guitar inlay dots and tuner pegs question
Greetings
I have a Yahama C40 and it only has one inlay dot on the outer neck at the 7th fret. Does anyone have any recommendation for dot stickers or using a white marker perhaps to make dots that will help me with playing this guitar? With the tuner peg question have had this guitar for 18 months and never tightened the screws that attach to the guitar head stock or the main tuner peg screws for that matter. Is this something that is required to do often? Thanks in advance. Cheerio

We used to use white-out for side dots. They now have side dot decals which work nicely. Strings by mail has them. R

I have been playing classical for about three years - and I never bothered with any dots ( I make guitars so am playing what I made ) - lately I am trotting up to the higher positions a little more - I find just one on 7 is useful.
Now - after playing with one on 7th - I really miss it - if I pick up a guitar I've not 'dotted' ! I make do with a tiny square of white electrical tape as a temp measure. I mean - its hard to miss 5th and 10th - so one at 7 seems to work - then 6 and 8 sort of fall into place ? I drill and inlay them - boxwood looks good on rosewood - ebony better with white plastic dot rod 2mm. But stick on dots are less fuss - I just don't have any ! |

Great suggestions, unfortunately with a weak aud it would cost $15 or so for the real McCoy. I might just get some $2 bulk star stickers and cut them into a circle for now see if they last

Dots
I use dry transfer dots on my C40.
Works well but ocaisionally get rubbed off so buy plenty. See https://www.rosetteguitarproducts.com/new-page-2 Last edited by wildeyes; 06-10-2020 at 02:24 PM. Reason: oops |

I sometimes find fret markers helpful when working on particular pieces. I cut a small piece of tape into a square (washi tape, painter's tape or masking tape) and put it on the top side of the fret board. Easy to remove or replace or move around. If you want a dot, use a hole punch.

I kept on losing the ones I got from Strings by mail so I super glued it on. Haven't lost it since
Typically there is only one at the 7th though. |

Hello all,
Well I actually found a solution other than proper dots because of the currency conversion/postage was not going to be that cheap. I purchased some 'star' stickers from Office Works $2, got a hole punch and made them into near perfect circles. They stick well and the pack must have 50 or so stickers for replacement, it actually works well although the dots are reasonably large which can look like you are a total novice. I got gold stars which looks great although silver probably would work better. Can post a picture at some point.

Yes AUD conversion is poor, plus fraud banks here charge conversion fees
