Thanks Fred, but I'm going to wait for my retirement and buy new for this one.

Another vote for keeping the Gibson and Martin. In retirement, and I speak from experience here, it's great to have old friends.

I think it depends entirely on what you play. I love the sound of Furch for playing leads and would like to have one myself but I see the Gibson better for backing vocals.. So what do you intend to do with the guitar?

Finger style, traditional Celtic covers and Celtic inspired original instrumentals.

If you sell the Gibson and Martin I'll never forgive you so there's that... Keep them and reward yourself with the Furch as a retirement present.

What are you playing on mostly now? When will you be retiring?

I'd unload the Larrivee and the Guild.

I might trade the the D16 but if the Gibson is one of the “special” ones it might be a regret letting it go.
Also, since it is a retirement guitar why not go for an Orange, or Red Furch. Perhaps there is some new old stock out there in the wild that can be had for a bargain.

I wouldn’t part with my J45.
Luckily, I could buy a Furch or just about any other guitar if I really wanted to. I’m happy with my trio.

That could help you get a very top of the line Furch - where maybe some of the extra charge goes to a big of bling, but mostly it goes to the woods, the voicing etc.
I would do it, but then I am really into Furch. |
