Unless you are more into the visual than the aural keep your 2 guitars, purchase the blue and every time you play it have a quiet smile that you got the equivalent of the yellow without the cost of the bling.

Seriously, every Furch from the blue onwards is built with the same care, top tuning and attention to detail.
That's what I was thinking too. I have plenty of bling for what I like and once the recorder is turned on bling is the farthest thing from my mind.

Thanks Fred, but I'm going to wait for my retirement and buy new for this one.

Another vote for keeping the Gibson and Martin. In retirement, and I speak from experience here, it's great to have old friends.

I think it depends entirely on what you play. I love the sound of Furch for playing leads and would like to have one myself but I see the Gibson better for backing vocals.. So what do you intend to do with the guitar?

Finger style, traditional Celtic covers and Celtic inspired original instrumentals.

If you sell the Gibson and Martin I'll never forgive you so there's that... Keep them and reward yourself with the Furch as a retirement present.

Barry -- You seem to have found your niche with your great Celtic sounds, and assume the Avalon is close to perfect for that. Unless you see yourself moving into music more suited for Martins or Gibsons (and how can you know?), why not sell them if you feel the need? I'm a sentimental "keeper" myself, so I can't help facilitate this.

Maybe focus on something kind of like an Avalon, but different enough from it?

What are you playing on mostly now? When will you be retiring?

I'd unload the Larrivee and the Guild.

This^^^^. I thought the same thing. To me, the way that was written, I don't think I'd let those two go.

Well said, Dru.

I might trade the the D16 but if the Gibson is one of the “special” ones it might be a regret letting it go.

Also, since it is a retirement guitar why not go for an Orange, or Red Furch. Perhaps there is some new old stock out there in the wild that can be had for a bargain.

I wouldn’t part with my J45.
Luckily, I could buy a Furch or just about any other guitar if I really wanted to.
I’m happy with my trio.

That could help you get a very top of the line Furch - where maybe some of the extra charge goes to a big of bling, but mostly it goes to the woods, the voicing etc.

I would do it, but then I am really into Furch.
