Is Anyone Else Into The Staves?
3 English sisters with beautiful harmonies. The middle sister plays guitar on all or most of the songs and usually handles lead vocals. She plays 1 Martin or 1 Gibson in all the videos I've seen. Can anyone identify the Gibson in the second link? Well, I thought she played a smaller body Gibson in a bunch of videos but I just keep finding this dread. Ah well. Check them out.
Some good uke playing in the first video: https://youtu.be/2QvNXBtaZLQ Video two should start when they start the song and go through the end. If you want to see them start on the beach and then get rained on, go back to the beginning. I hadn't seen this one before and I think this is a second Gibson... https://youtu.be/CNu0-qgcfgY?t=81 Last edited by DavidE; 01-20-2019 at 08:52 PM. |

I stumbled on their cover of Springsteen's I'm On Fire and went down The Staves' rabbit hole. I don't care for their newest album which is some weird modern stuff with some string group. But they have SO many great songs. The Deluxe Edition of If I Was is on my regular Spotify play list.

I first heard them at Bruce Hornsby's Funhouse festival in Williamsburg Va in 2017. Been a huge fan ever since.

Huge fan of the Slaves......as another said it is easy to go the YouTube rabbit hole with them.
Do yourselves a favor and find the documentary "Austin to Boston", saw it on Netflicks a while back, check streaming sites. The Staves team up with a bunch of other musicians, Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff and others in 5 VW camper vans. They do 3 thousand miles in two weeks and play a bunch of shows. I have watched it 3 times, so much good music on this |

Been listening to them for a few years - about the same time I discovered the Wailin' Jennys.
My fave Staves: And Wailin' Jennys (liked this one so much I recorded it myself!):

After watching a few of these videos in the past 15 minutes, it's safe to say I have taken the first step into the rabbit hole. Thanks for sharing these. I know what will be playing on my Spotify playlist later.

This is too funny. I've seen The Staves in March of 2017. I go see a lot of live music and sometimes I'll forget about somebody I've seen. My wife and I went with our daughter who said we would like them a lot. She was right! They played in the auditorium of one of the schools in my city.

I clicked on one of the links above ... my first reaction was that they are directly emulating First Aid Kit ... but that said, yes they are good.
