Default NGD - John Walker Ruby Elite

Let me get this out of the way: I was NOT looking for another guitar. But back when I was, I set up a Reverb feed to see what John Walker guitars might pop up. Low and behold, I check my email a few weeks ago and there is this:

https://reverb.com/item/28224623-joh...85-123-natural

I was able to get a great price and now she’s home with my other two J.Walkers....

A few specs:
Brazilian back, sides, headplate, fretboard, thru saddle bridge
Mahogany neck
Adirondack top
24.75” scale
1.75” at the nut
2 3/8” at the saddle
‘57 J-185 style pick guard
Waverly tuners
Bone nut/saddle/end pin
Curly maple binding, truss cover, end wedge, and rosette
Leaning towards V neck profile

I love it. My John Walker Missouri River has tremendous projection; notes jump off, slap you in the face, and then bloom with overtones. The Ruby Elite sounds more introspective, like the fundamental and overtones all got together somewhere in the 16” lower bout and then decided to gracefully exit. Very different, not necessarily better, but it inspires me to play differently. Anyway, I need to delete my reverb feed.

Here are some pics from the build I found on John’s Facebook page

Congratulations! What a fantastic guitar, have a wonderful time making music with it!!!

I have to say...not only does Mr. Walker build a stellar guitar...BUT...he has, IMO, hands down THE best looking "Guitar Label" out there period!

If I remember right, it is a reproduction of a painting that one of his family...his grandfather?...made. It is just gorgeous.

Yeppers found the info on it on John's website:

"The oval label located inside of my guitars is a picture painted by my grandfather, Stanley H. Walker. He was a pastel artist and this particular picture is named "Natures Wonderland", painted by him in the 1920's. Hope you enjoy it!."

Best label ever...
