I have the P3NC... which is like a 0000 size. It has the CTBII preamp.
It’s awesome live. It is also great unolugged. The cedar top/ sapele has a growl to it. I also have a Martin D15 which I love, and recently bought a Gibson again. Because I needed one and missed it. But for live gigs, and I do my fair share, this Tak is the easy plug and play solution. https://imgur.com/a/kKH7zbm |

Congrats on discovering what guitar moves you.
Way back when (sometime in the 90s) I had a lowden guitar. It was stellar in all ways, except no matter what pick up I tried I could not get it to sound good. I eventually traded it in for a tak Santa Fe model and some cash. Acoustically the tak was very nice but plugged in it was everything I needed at the time. There is a reason many touring artists use it for the road.

Congratulations - I LOVE the sound of my P4DC..........Unplugged
I mic it for recording and it's so easy to mix because of the balanced tone. I bought another Tak with a 1.75" nut and then I found comfort and play-ability heaven. Now my P4DC does not get played as much though I still record with it. I actually may sell or trade it for the Tak EF-340S-TT. Same tone-wood characteristics with a 1.77" nut. I am hoping for a similar tonal output if I go that direction. I played a BUNCH of guitars like you and could not find one that gave me the same satisfaction as my P4DC. @JackB1 - Not bright - not warm - right in the middle................ |

I'm really thinking about this Tak. How's the neck? Thin like the Martin MLO or a bit more meat like a Gibson? I looked on you YT page but didn't find any songs with the Tak. Thanks!

I have a Takamine TAN-16C with the Cool Tube pre-amp that I really like. Both the plugged and unplugged sound is really good. I also have Martin and Taylor guitars that are my preferred players but this Takamine still rates up there very high. My son decided to purchase his first good guitar last year and ended up with a TAN-16C as well because the used price was quite a bit lower compared to purchasing a used Martin or Taylor made of equivalent woods. Definitely a keeper guitar.

The higher end Japanese models are fine guitars and sound acoustically pleasing to my ears. |

I see this is an older thread that has been kicked up and revived but the subject matter is still relevant.
I have had a bunch of guitars over the past 50 years and have retained the ones that I most like. Yes, a couple of good ones got away but I still have most of the gems. I've owned quite a few Takamine guitars and I will vouch for consistent quality of their Pro-Series. The build is bullet proof, they set up and play as well or better than most, and the electronics simply rock! I have a Pro Series 1998 Takamine FP350SMC-SB that I bought new. Simply put, this is the best playing guitar with the best action I have ever played. Mind you I have high end Martins, Gibsons, and others. I will admit that acoustically it holds its own but the tone is not quite as complex as my Martins or Gibsons. But man o man does it play fast and smoothly. Blues |

I know folks who have chosen other brands over Martins, Taylors, etc. because they preferred the sound and playability. You like what you like, and the best guitar is the one that speaks to you regardless of what name is on the headstock or what factory it rolled out of.

Congrats! I have my sights set on getting a Tak P5NC soon.
I have a feeling I'm going to love this Tak, even though I haven't played one as the local DFW guitar shops don't seem to carry the higher end Taks.

But shortly after buying it, my Yairi GY1 had some bridge lift. My friend and luthier fixed it. Now when I go on stage, I really love that Yairi again. But the Takamine is THE perfect “plug and play” guitar.
