Default Serial number when you are selling

Do you share the serial number of the guitar you are selling? Thanks!

If I was asked I certainly would, nothing to hide and I sure expect one if I asked for it.

I usually take a close-up picture of the serial number and post it with my ad. I believe it's safe to share.

Yep always and if I'm buying I'll always ask for it if it's not in the photos.

I can't speak for wevvy but for myself, I find that sellers are often wrong about the year of their guitars. Either memory fails or they just never knew to begin with or just call it the year they bought it in a store etc... Sometimes they're wrong about a lot more than that. A serial number is typically an easy way to date a guitar and possibly get other info on it.

Lol, had a fellow "forget" to inform me that the guitar I bought from him was at the factory for repair for nearly a year!

.........Pender, also makes it easy to get a build sheet from whoever built the guitar.

As others have said, I like to know exactly when it was built

I usually just mention the year that the serial number indicates the guitar was built and corresponds to the time I bought the guitar.

It’s also about the only way to see if the guitar has been reported stolen -

Once you have the serial # where do you check for that?

Nowhere. There's no centralized database or anything.
