A few new pics as the guitar is back from the finisher’s place.
I love the colorful BRW in the rosette and the Tree back, all polished.

Aloha Russell,

I was at the Kinnaird shop last week doing a student build when your guitar arrived and was unboxed. Holy smokes what a stunner! The woods are gorgeous, and I love the sea turtle sound port design. You have a real beauty coming your way. I hope you thoroughly love it.

John

Thanks to all for following along and for the many nice words! Including Bill Kraus, Nemoman, Cigarfan, invguy, Tom, Mbryan, BBWS, redir, & jguns, and others.
And most especially to Stephen Kinnaird for the awesome work!
I’m calling it MLG, My Last Guitar! Time will tell if that’s accurate or not, but that’s the view from here!

If this is, indeed, your “MLG” then you’ going out in style! Very wonderful guitar. Steve and Ryan have nailed it. Enjoy! Dave

Here’s some final pics for Russell’s guitar. We did the recording today which I will have up soon, but man this guy sounds great. We really appreciated getting to build what turned out to be a fun combination of woods.

Thanks for looking!

You realize we’re letting Ian down terribly. I think he’d like us to resort to mortal combat 🤪 and yet here you are complimenting this guitar. Thank you, brother for the kind word!

Yes, sorry Mike—more than you know. It would have been rewarding having you play this instrument. Ah well, perhaps another time. I’m trying to talk Russell into coming to BIG next year, so who knows?
Thanks for the encouraging word!

Steve

Hey thanks for the kind word Paul. That may be our first YOWZA, and I really appreciate it.

Or perhaps we talk Russell into hosting B.I.G. Hawaii? We could all go to his house and play his guitars… Just thinking (dreaming) out loud.
Thanks for the compliment Dennis!

What a stunningly beautiful guitar! I was lucky enough to be at the shop when this gem arrived back from the finisher and was unboxed. It is even more gorgeous in person! It shows what can happen when incredible raw materials meet up with incredible craftsmanship. I really enjoyed the video just posted but I am surprised that Steve didn't take the time to point out the spectacular sea turtle sound port. You can catch a glimpse at about 1:30 in the video. The workmanship on these little details is really special!
