This is turning out to be one tasty guitar.

On a side note, there is a thread in the General Section about an 1996 Olson guitar and David Wilcox talking about where the red spruce came from for that guitar. Sounds like the wood came from the same trees felled by the same event. That is kind of cool.

Best,
Jayne

Lovey indeed. I have playing my Brondel P-B2c constantly - so responsive and complex. Laurent recommended an Engelmann top and, while I wouldn’t have asked for that top, I followed his lead. Glad I did! I believe you will be very happy.

Well, you know where I stand on all things Brondel. This is turning out to be amazing. Love the wood choice and binding.

Engelmann is a fabulous top wood in the right hands so I can imagine that your P-B2c is one sweet guitar.

Jayne

Thanks guys for the complimemts. This did not come from the original Arnold Smoky spruce from the storm felled trees, but from a place called Maggie Valley where old growth red spruce still exists.

that first Arnold red spruce was like the Maltese Falcon, the kind of stuff dreams are made of. I'll post a photo of i can find it, but the grain was so tight it was almost microscopic, and so even and creamy it was mesmerising

Now, this top was the best Maggie Valley top i could afford, and I dare say it has lived up to both Laurent and my standards.

And then there is the excellent German celluloid binding!!!!!

Thanks for that clarification. The Great Smoky Mountains - yeah, it's a big place.

Jayne

Beautiful guitar, and great build thread. Here is a picture of a John Arnold "Smokies" top, Ken Hooper gluing the bridge on my Mahogany "tree" guitar.

I changed the link to a photo from my website, you might be able to see it now. Looking forward to your next build thread as well.

Looking great, Matthew--you'll be playing it in no time!

Awesome pickguard and truss rod cover to complement the overall look.

Congrats!
