Default Big Yellow Microphone?

Maybe it is just Ringo's infectious attitude of nonchalance.

Maybe it is just because I really like Steve Lukather's lead guitar melodies in this song.

Maybe it's because this reminds me of those free spirited 80's days.

Maybe it is just because I am a silly guy.....but I kind of like this song!

More importantly though...what the heck is that BIG YELLOW Mic? My mic addition wants to know.

If you're just looking for the color you can put together one of Matt McGlynn's vintage mic kits and specify neon yellow for a body color.

Only Three ever made!!....

"The basic concept behind the NU-47 was to make the most capable hyper-fidelity Microphone possible, designed expressly for the recording of featured Solo Sound Sources in modern music recording."

As to its sound quality?=True, not true, who cares..with only 3 made it =This is the stuff magical legends are made of. fun stuff.

I got to enjoy a concert with Bruce Swedien - the Eighth Air Force Glenn Miller Orchestra at the AES. Seating was limited and we ended up together. We both liked big band and they worked off the original charts. That was fun!

Love, love seeing videos like this where you can hear a direct comparison.

I fell in love with the U47 all over again. Truly brings out the low end so nicely.

I did not realize it till I clicked on a few other videos of his, but I had been hearing of his new microphone design the NU-100K for a few years now. It does sound very smooth and at a reasonable price point as well. Claiming that the parts are made in house. Using a aluminum diaphragm...that is certainly very unusual for a condenser mic isn't it?

Ahh....if only I were a rich man....I would buy one just because.

Just in case you may have thought I was exaggerating about the cost a new tube for the NU-47, a microphone quality, tested, VF-14 today will run you in the thousands. I've seen them priced as high as $8k from reputable dealers.

Venturing into that territory is neither for the faint of heart nor the faint of wallet.
