Default NMD: 1929 Martin Style C Flatback Mandolin

My father recently gave me his 1929 Martin Style C Mandolin. It needed some work, including a large side crack repair. We wondered if it was salvageable, and thought maybe just a sentimental piece at this point. But Jake Wildwood Country Guitar Doctor got this back in playing shape. It's a pretty special mandolin to me because my dad bought it over 50 years ago, and I remember playing around with it as a kid. I still need to find a tailpiece cover, but have a few leads on that. This thing sure is fun to play, and sounds awesome, too.

Here's Jake's writeup of my instrument.

It’s great that you could restore a piece of family history. I really like the sound of the flat back Martin mandolins. It’s not a bluegrass sound, but it’s a great sound nonetheless.

Very cool, and so nice that it was your dad's. Looks like a good recovery/restoration job, too. (You or your mandolin's "doc" might find some leads on a mandolin-specific forum. Can't hurt to ask.)
