Default #UPSdestroyedmyguitars - My non venue at the Woodstock Invitational? Here is why

I hope I posted it in the good section. Thanks to move this thread in the appropriate one if it is not the case

Sooo, as a couple of you know about the smashing guitars incident, I received this answer from UPS, after talking to them during 14 days:

Hello Benjamin,

Thank you for your understanding.

Unfortunately it is different for each situation. I would estimate at least 2 months but it might not take that long, but on the other hand, it could potentially take longer.

I do apologize.

So, because they want to play dead, I will make this affair Public, and I clearly hope they will stop thinking you can mess with a builder.

I spent hundreds of hours on these 2 instruments, paid the finish, etc... assured them for the full price, and UPS don't want to refund the full insurance. I missed Woodstock Invitational and a great way to see all of you who came there, and my mates... disaster.

Thank you UPS... thank you!

Hey Rob! I hope so! By the way, they will understand the consequences of their lack of judgement

Sigh.

IMO there will be a greater volume of outrage, and more visible, with your Facebook postings, Benjamin.

Not that folks here shouldn't see what is going on...and that said, posting in the General Forum might have more "views"...although folks in the Custom Shop sub-forum will certainly be incensed by the damage done.

We all stand with you on this, of course.

Was the shipping box destroyed? I ship guitars all the time to road gigs and sales and I’ve never seen one break like that let alone two. However, that’s why I have insurance through a third-party insurer. Do you not?

Larry: Thank you my friend, I really appreciate your support!

MMM: Two big chuncks on the box, at the exact place where the heels are. I imagine it could fall from a very high distance to the ground, impossible to say when you are not in the warehouse. Unfortunately, I never had a broken instrument so, I didn't know about the third-party Insurance... now, I know

This is crazy awful Ben. I hope you get some attention (and positive results) quickly. It won’t fix this, but you’re owed respect and accountability. I’m anxious to see how this gets resolved. Good luck.

As Larry said..post on Facebook and even consider a Twitter account..outrage here doesn't show up on big business radar screens.
Good luck and sorry for your trials and lost work.

Your issue is one of those big fears that enter my mind when I ship a 3k guitar. Sounds like yours may have been significantly more than even that. There's no excuse for UPS to be dragging you through all this stress when you would almost surely win in mediation or arbitration if it came to that.

That's terrible Ben. You must be gutted. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Perhaps you should consider writing a song for You Tube - it's been known to work in the past.

They were available, and especially built for Woodstock last week end

Definitely, no excuse... Hardcase, well protected, they made the one-way trip to vancouver for my finisher, unfinished... and arrived at his workshop as best as it could be. But the return trip...

The damage is certainly bad enough, but I find their response to be appalling.
Very sorry this happened.
