Skipping practice for a short period

I skip most Saturdays. On Mondays my grand kids come to spend the day and we sing kid's songs and I play along. I don't know if that's considered practice or not, but that's it for Mondays. Otherwise it is three quarters hour to an hour every afternoon to wind down. I find playing the guitar very relaxing. The more stressed I am, the more I play.

I've been having the same problem. But I just can't stop. I enjoy learning but I need to solidify what I've learned. Get it under my fingers. That's when I find out if I want to play a song "forever" or not. I'm learning new technics and ways of looking at expanding tunes by using double stops and partial chords.

I also find that works for playing golf too. It gets you back to the basic fundamentals.

It's just fine to skip a few days of practice, or even more. Even if you're a professional, you have to be able to get the most out of any practice and playing that you do... if "it" ain't there, then go away until you find "it" again...

Playing the guitar is a lifestyle "shift", NOT a prison sentence!

I take my guitar out every day... there are sometimes days when I look at it and don’t really “feel it”, but even on those days, I often find myself picking it up at some point anyway. It it’s a pretty rare day when it goes back into the case without getting any action. But that’s fine when it does happen.
