Pistachio has been on my radar for some years. But it rarely gets to guitar size. Unfortunately, your photos do not show up on my screen. I was hoping to see them.

Pictures not showing for me. I am interested to check it out as well.
Very global elitist of you Bruce: Mexican wood, Hawaiian form, California interpretation. String it with grape vines from France and you are there.

I can see the pics, and love the pistachio!
FWIw, the other day all Bruce’s pics weren’t showing on Chrome on my laptop. I could see them on Safari on my phone and my laptop, however. Not sure why.

The uke looks awesome, Bruce! What top are you using for it?

The piece of wood I had was a center cut from the Pistachio tree, taken right at the graft. The stump end is the silver wood I used for the top, and the upper portion is the pink I used for the back and sides: all Pistachio! Somewhere I have a picture of the raw piece, and I will look for it.
I host my own photos and used the same system for these as for any I have ever posted. They should show up on all systems. |

Pictures show fine for me (chrome on windows).
It was probably just taking time to process/propagate.

Pistachio Wood
Pistachio Wood! Who knew??? Bruce, that's who.
For some reason it's making me think of Neapolitan ice cream… But there's no pistachio in that is there? Yummy stuff Paul

Lovely stuff. So am I understanding you correctly that the top will be pistachio as well as the back and sides? If so how will it compare with more traditional top woods?

Quote:
I finished the binding yesterday and this one makes a beautiful drum, so expectations are rising. I am building this Uke as a “MasterClass”, which means the customer is a luthier, in this case a Uke specialist with a viable business, who is in the shop with me while I build and talk about the process. The goal is to raise His concept and techniques. I have done “MasterClasses” with guitar luthiers in the past, but this is the first time I’ve done it with a Uke. It is a learning experience for me as well. |

Had a chance to see the pistachio uke in person for a few minutes yesterday, and also some of the off-cuts. It is beautiful material, the subtle coloring and grain are truly gorgeous. I’ve never seen pistachio before, but if it maintains its color and beauty under finish, and after some UV exposure, I predict there’s gonna be a lot more demand for it -
