Beautiful Movie Soundtracks.
I love beautiful soundtracks. I’ll share a few of my favorites and can hopefully find some new ones with your recommendations.
OUT OF AFRICA (one of my all-time favs) EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (one of the best I’ve ever heard - haunting and brilliant) A MONSTER CALLS (a somewhat recent find but one I can’t stop listening to) BRAVEHEART (a classic) THE LORD OF THE RINGS and I like all the ones from the NARNIA films. |

How about Mark Knopfler's warm and moody music for the film "Local Hero?"
My favorite is Pat Metheny's hard-to-find music for "A Map of the World." For a prison scene, it features a rarity, Pat's take on rap music! Also plenty of steel-string acoustic playing, something he rarely does (except for the baritone).

Rock Music!
They tried utilizing blues, pop and rock music for soundtracks during the 80's. We saw this with 'Paris, Texas' (Ry Cooder), and Prince's 'Purple Rain' where the stage performances were part of the narrative as well as the soundtrack. But we had to wait for the 90's for delivery of probably one of the greatest action movies of all time for the concept to work. The edge, pacing, and the mood provided by the artists who contributed original music to the project worked beautifully to produce one of most popular soundtracks of the last century.
