The LS16 is a great guitar. I owned one for a bit but just did not find the smaller body to my liking - I have only owned dreads since. I swapped it for the dread version of the same guitar - the LL16 and have never looked back.
That ding is nothing that would dissuade me - guitars are meant to be played. The Yamaha soft cases are good but I'd replace it with a new Yamaha hard case if humidification is a concern - available on Amazon for $79 bucks new.

I absolutely LOVE this Taylor, it just sounds superb and is a real pleasure to play. Can’t believe I got it so cheap and without a redundant cheapo pickup system, my 00015m will remain my gig guitar. I also sold my unwanted Fender Strat tonight to a nice old guy so not even out of pocket. Also marks my abandonment of electric guitars entirely, I am the anti-Judas.
Been messing about with it in Open D for the last hour, this will be my go to alternative tuning guitar. |

I'm thankful for this thread...I'd been considering an LS16 from afar as a companion to my Larrivee...but if it's brighter than a Taylor 114, it's def not for me!
OP, glad you found one that makes you happy! That's what it's about!

I’m by no means an authority - would definitely still try the LS16 out for yourself if you get the chance. To my ears this Taylor is pretty well balanced, maybe a little on the bassy side but I am enjoying that.
