Default Old USA Made Peavey Guitars

Anyone ever owned any old USA made Peaveys? Our lead guitar just go an old Peavey Nitro II and he says it is better than the old Fender Strat he used to play.

I had two different Nitro 3s. the first version when it came out then years later had a second generation one that had the hockey stick head stock like the vanenberg model.

were very nice guitars. First one was teal blue. looked like a GUMBY guitar!!

I haven't, but when I took lessons in 1980 the Peavey T-15 was what all the students were buying. You see them from time to time on ebay. It's a solid bodied electric and it came with a plastic case that had a small amp built into the case.

I have an old Peavey Reactor (tele style) and I reach for it before I reach for my Fender American Deluxe Tele. Old Peavey's are great guitars. But I still would rather play an acoustic.

I love old US Peavey guitars. The worst of them are easily the equal of anything Fender was making at the time...and I'm a big Fender fanboy.

I'm a big fan of the USA-made Generation series with active pickups supposedly made by Bartolini. Great neck, should never have traded mine off.
The nice ones sell on Ebay for almost as much as they did when they were new...

Basses, especially. My 3 basses are--or started out as--Peaveys. I found a TL-5 last year, right around my birthday, and treated myself to it; it's become my A bass.

I had a Peavey T-60 but sold it in the early '90s for $200 (roughly the equivalent of $300 today). The tone control would split the coils for a single coil tone when turned to about 8. Below the 8 setting it acted like a conventional tone control. I wish I still had that guitar.

I have a Peavey T-20 bass. And every jam I go to, many of the bass players would wind up playing my bass...though there are other "nicer" basses available at the jams, from Fender to Ernie Ball Music Man to Laklands!

Even the bass "afficianados" at talkbass.com like Peavey USA basses!

I have a T-60 (mid 1980s model) and it looks almost like the one pictured. I think it plays like butter and the pick-up system is extremely versatile which allows me to approximate the sounds of other guitars. It's like having 4 guitars in 1. I picked it up in a pawn shop back in 1997 for a buck twenty...one the best buys I have made to date!

I have two USA Peaveys, a Predator (strat copy) and a Foundation bass, & would love to have a USA Reactor.

Tonight I saw a USA Peavey Dyna Bass on Craigslist for (oops, not allowed to say here on AGF).

Yep I got one like this too!
Lots of tonal variety and it plays well too. My only complaint is the weight. It is my heaviest guitar at 9 lbs. 14 oz. a ful 1 1/2 pound more than my Les Paul. A couple of hours wearing this one and you know it!
