Default Beams - a squid original

One of the best ways I think to get to know a fellow guitar player or musician is through their music. I think it's great that so many people here share their music on the forum! So I thought I'd share something of mine. I wrote and recorded this last Spring and it inspired me to continue down the path of original music on the acoustic guitar. Being primarily and electric guitarist, it was a rather unexpected path for me.

That’s a great first s and t post, Rich! Nice melody, excellent production. Did you play the bass and drums, too?

Wonderful

Thanks for checking it out and taking the time to comment!!

I play bass and all of the guitar parts. If I remember correctly it was a rhythm guitar part and a lead part. The drums are a simple drum beat from a phone app called Drum Beats+. I purchased a copy EZ Drummer 2 which I have to get up to speed on for more complex drum beats.

I use Repaer as a DAW with stock plugins. The mic is a modest MXL 990. I really like the sound of acoustic guitar recorded with a mic rather than using some sort of pickup.

I have a couple more tunes out there I will share at another time. My plan it to record a few more and release as an EP. It's really a lot of fun.

Thanks for checking it out! I'll have to search some of your stuff out!

I'm primarily an electric guitar player and I never focused on finger style aside from the utter basics. Blackbird is about as fancy as I get with fingerstyle . Multitracking fits my style and abilities.

LOL...no . He's actually iBallisticSquid. When my kids used to watch Stampy's channel all of the time, the name "iBallsticSquid" struck me and it made me chuckle every time I heard it. When I decided I needed a less obvious username for my online presence, it was the first thing that make to mind.

My downstairs music area has been dubbed "Suburban Squid Studios". The whole squid thing kinda stuck.
